17-year-old charged after Rock Hill shooting that killed 3 teens, police say – WSOC TV

ROCK HILL, SC — A 17-year-old has been charged with murder after three teenagers were fatally shot in an overnight shooting in Rock Hill, police say.

Rock Hill Police said they received multiple calls reporting gunshots after 10 p.m. Tuesday and responded to Gist Road near South Cherry Road.

Rock Hill Police said three men were in a vehicle parked on Gist Road.

While sitting in the vehicle, two other men, ages 17 and 16, approached the car and began shooting at it.

A 16-year-old boy, who was in the driver’s seat, was shot and killed, police said.

Ahmik Coleman, 17 of Rock Hill, was in the front passenger seat and retaliated by hitting the two shooters in the road. Someone in the back ran out of the car.

Coleman got out of the car and started running, but immediately returned fire, killing the 17- and 16-year-olds lying in the roadway, police said.

OMarian Small, 16, of Lake Wylie, was found dead in a vehicle at the scene, the York County Coroner’s Office said in a news release.

Kam’ran Brevard, 16, of Rock Hill, also died at the scene.

Evanta Hart, 17, of Rock Hill, was taken to EMS at Piedmont Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

Coleman was shot in the hand and taken to hospital, police said.

Detectives put the pieces together and issued two murder warrants for Coleman, charging him as an adult.

He was brought to the Legal Center and taken into custody on Wednesday evening. Coleman’s bail hearing is Thursday.

“It was really sobering to see, like a body in the street,” neighbor Samantha Diener said.

A Channel 9 crew at the scene saw a large police presence and a criminal gang blocking Gist Road. A car was also seen with several bullet holes.

A man told Tina Terry on Channel 9 that his 17-year-old brother was one of the victims.

“He actually called me yesterday morning and I missed the call and I wish I could answer just to hear that last ‘I love you’. I would always end a phone call with ‘I love you ” and now I can never hear him again, or see him again. It’s sad,” Qua Hart said. “I just wish it was something I could have done. He was just too young to To be taken.

Police say the shooting was not a random act of violence and the community is not in danger.
