Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet around 40 election-related BJP Uttar Pradesh MPs today over breakfast at his official residence. This will be the prime minister’s fourth such meeting with MPs from different states during the winter session of parliament, according to the PTI.
It is said that MoS Home Ajay Mishra ‘Teni’ will likely be present at the meeting and his presence is his important opposition as the opposition has been demanding his resignation in the Lakhimpur Kheri affair for a few days in Parliament.
So far, Modi has met with lawmakers from all northeastern states, southern states and Madhya Pradesh, the sources said.
Prime Minister Modi is due to meet around 40 lawmakers from Uttar Pradesh on Friday and he will meet the state’s other lawmakers at another meeting, they said.
These meetings were informal and were not specific to the agenda, MEPs said.
During all the meetings, the prime minister suggested that party MPs engage more with people, beyond political activities, and avoid the VIP culture, they said.
The seven-year-old boy, who is the first person from West Bengal to test positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19, and his family members were released from a Malda district hospital on Thursday after testing negative for the virus, a health ministry official said.
The boy recently returned to West Bengal from Abu Dhabi via Hyderabad. He had gone to a relative in Kaliachak in the Malda district from Kolkata airport. He was admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital with his sister and parents.
The seven-year-old and everyone who came in contact with him were found negative today. In accordance with the norm, the child and his sister, parents and grandmother were released from the hospital. They will be kept in home quarantine for an additional week, he said.
Earlier today, a middle-aged man, who was found infected with COVID-19 in West Bengal after returning from Bangladesh, tested negative for the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The patient contracted the Delta strain of the coronavirus, the official said.
