Boscov’s opens its 49th store with a record grand opening | News, Sports, Jobs

NILES – With the opening of its 49th store in Ohio’s largest shopping complex, Eastwood Mall in Niles, Ohio, Boscov’s achieves record sales in its three-day grand opening celebration.

“We spent two years planning a big three day opening celebration especially for the Mahoning Valley community and we are delighted to say this was the best opening ever.” said Jim Boscov, Chairman and CEO of Boscov’s.

The celebration kicked off Oct. 7 with Charity Day – Shop for a Cause, where customers donating $ 5 to a participating nonprofit received exclusive and advanced access to a store filled with incredible special offers from ‘opening. In doing so, Boscov raised over $ 100,000 for the most important nonprofits for Mahoning Valley.

On October 8, Boscov’s hosted Family Day – Something For Everyone, where families were entertained by balloon and cartoon artists, interactive EDUtainment activities by Mr. Ralf from Oh Wow! Children’s Museum and a free pass to support local restaurants while enjoying music from a pianist on a Steinway concert grand piano.

On October 9, the 125-member Niles Marching Band kicked off the ribbon-cutting ceremony in which the president of Trumbull’s United Way and member agencies cut a unique ribbon-cutting ribbon made up of $ 100 tickets for member organizations, plus a special $ 1,000 ticket to the United Way, symbolizing Boscov’s commitment to local charities. Guests enjoyed free live performances by Elvis Aaron Presley Jr and Jason Lindsey, aka “Mister. Science.” To top off the celebration, Boscov’s staged a spectacular opening fireworks display synchronized with the music.

“It’s not just sales that define a successful opening” said Boscov.

“This is our biggest opening to date, as in addition to doing great business, we have raised over $ 100,000 for local nonprofits, expanded our family by hiring over 200 Mahoning residents. Valley and established Eastwood Mall as the region’s premier shopping destination. “
