Expect political advertising but never on our airwaves in 2022

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – It’s 2022 and another political year is upon us.

This year, like 2020, will again be very active for our airways.

Messages were exchanged by different politicians and political parties.

While this can be a great exercise for America’s right to free speech, some messages tend to be more negative, destroying their adversary rather than focusing on their own development.

You will see the majority of these ads on WALB.

Please know that we here at WALB will take no sides. We do not endorse, fund or favor any party or candidate.

Recently you started seeing an ad that grabbed a report from our Today In Georgia and there are our morning anchors in the ad.

WALB was unsolicited and we did not give them permission to use this clip. There is virtually no defense that can prevent a candidate from doing so.

The FCC, which regulates broadcast stations like ours, has a law that a candidate spot cannot be censored or denied and that we are required by federal law to air them.

WALB is expected to be fair and unbiased as a broadcast television channel, and we will remain so – you, the viewers, deserve it. It is not for us to impose our personal opinions or beliefs on you.

In 2022, you will be allowed to make your own decision.
