Northeast Baltimore barricade situation ends peacefully

Archbishop Curley High School and the Sinclair Lane Elementary School have closed due to the current situation. “I haven’t received a call. His mother hasn’t received a text message or anything. I’m just glad she wasn’t there when the chaos was unfolding,” said Sinclair Lane Primary School parent Brandon Johnson. “I was wondering why all the police were barricading everything. It was shocking,” said a parent from Sinclair Elementary School, who did not want to be identified. I feel like we should still have some kind of system in place for people who had to go to work and all that,” Johnson-Bey said. People living nearby told 11 news that the incident began around 8.30pm on Sunday evening and was a headache for people trying to get to work or take their children to school.

“Right now it’s like it’s crazy how these things are going,” said Ronald Johnson-Bey, who lives nearby.

Police were called to the 3800 block of Sinclair Lane on Sunday evening to gunfire and said the suspect had barricaded himself inside a house.

“When I looked outside I saw a police cruiser right here at this corner at Eastmount and Sinclair, but I didn’t realize there were many more on Sinclair. This morning, as I said, is where I learned about SWAT and everything that’s going on here,” Johnson-Bey said.

Crisis negotiators and SWAT were called in while Baltimore city and county officers locked down several streets between Erdman Avenue and Chesterfield. Archbishop Curley Secondary School and Sinclair Lane Primary School have been closed due to the current situation.

“I didn’t get a call. Her mum didn’t get a text or anything. I’m just glad she wasn’t there when the chaos was unfolding,” said Brandon Johnson, a parent from Sinclair Lane Primary School.

“I was wondering why all the police were barricading everything. It was shocking,” said a parent from Sinclair Elementary School who did not want to be identified.

Several people living nearby said there was a lot of confusion about what was going on and the disruption it caused throughout the day.

“It was very confusing because I feel like we still have to put some kind of system in place for people who had to go to work and stuff,” Johnson-Bey said.

Police did not say who was barricaded inside the house or the charges against them.
