Northport Tuscaloosa shooting kills 16-year-old, man

Tuscaloosa’s violent crime unit captain Jack Kennedy said several 911 calls came from Northport around 5 p.m. Tuesday, reporting a shootout involving two vehicles at Wendy’s on McFarland Blvd. Kennedy said a second round of calls came shortly after the incident, reporting two people shot dead in the Fieldcrest Drive area.

Northport Police responded and secured both locations. At the scene of Fieldcrest Drive, police found a 20-year-old man with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and 16-year-old Trinity Shannon was shot dead.

With the help of victims, video footage and third-party witnesses, authorities in Tuscaloosa identified the shooter as 19-year-old Kenderius Sherman. Sherman is charged with capital murder and two counts of attempted murder.

He’s in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bail.
